History of this Institution
SHRI MAKHAN LAL DAYA VATI PUBLIC INTER COLLEGE is ideally situated at Shaym Kunj, Agra Road, Hathras. In the heart of city this institution is founded by Mr. Swatantra Kumar Gupta, the Principal of D.R.B. Inter College, Hathras in the sweet memory of his father Late Shri Makhan Lal Gupta and his mother Late Smt. Daya Vati on 26th June, 1998.

Late Shri Makhan Lal Gupta was born on Pitramavashya in the reputed family of Shri Daulat Ram Ji at Village Lakhanu near Hathras in 1914. As a teacher, he spread up 'Educational Spirit' to the people and got name and fame everywhere. His life was devoted to the elevation of education. He fought throughout his life in the field of Education. Wherever he went, hindrances removed away from his path because his pledge was-
मेहरेतावा (सूर्य) से जाके कह दो,
कि वह अपनी किरणों को गिन के रख ले।
मैं अपने जर्रे—जर्रे को फिर से,
चमकना सिखा रहा हूँ।
मेरे तकल्लुफ, मेरे इरादे,
करेंगे कुदरत पे हुक्मरानी।

Shri Makhan Lal Gupta established V.C. Jhuriya School in 1944 with five students in order to fulfil the aims of education. He had been Principal for four years. The approval for High School classes by the State Government was made to this school by him.
No facilities were available for education at Hathras at that time. Shri Gupta established another school (Barahseni Vidyalaya) at Govind Bagh in 1948. He worked as Principal. The approval for Intermediate by U.P. State Government was made by him in 1952. At present it is known as Akroor Inter College. As a person, he always moved forward and did not like to see back. Shri Makhan Lal Gupta had similar behaviour. His services were terminated because of jealousy. Still instead of being depressed he used to say-
"Our misfortunes are God's blessings in disguise"
He established another educational institution in the memory of his father Shri Daulat Ram Varshney. We know this institution by the name "Shri Daulat Ram Barahseni Inter College." Being a founder Principal he took retirement in 1974. It's beautiful and wide play-ground, its splendour building, its classic result and remarkable discipline are the gifts of his good directions.
Besides it, he has been the member of Executive committee Surjobai Shah Girls Inter College, Rajendra Lohiya Vidya Mandir, Sasni Vidyapitha Inter College, Sasni, Janta Hr. Sec. School, Mursan, Hari Eye Hospital, Manav Seva Sansthan. He continuously tried to serve human society.
Babu ji was a courageous man. Once at the time of acquiring the field of Shri D.R.B. Inter College he was attacked with knives but still his words were-
अब खुली चुनौती है युग के तूफानों को।
इस विद्यालय का दीप नहीं बुझने देंगे॥
हम काँटों की सौगन्ध उठाकर कहते हैं।
इन फूलों की मुस्कान नहीें छिनने देंगे॥
His life was simple and spiritual. Self-control, balanced diet and dutiful life were the causes of his health and long life. He never felt tired while doing hard work. He always said-
‘चलने वाले के लिए कुछ भी सुबह—शाम नहीं,
आँसू उनके निकलते जिन्हें कुछ काम नहीं।
हर बड़ी चोट यहाँ एक बड़ी मन्जिल है,
जो इसे सह न सके वह यहाँ इन्सान नहीं॥
He lived an ideal life. He believed that each particle of duty is better than wide details. Having limited sources, he established not only one but also three educational institutions at Hathras. Thousands of boys and girls are studying and brightening their lives in these institutions.
Such great personality died on December 24th, 1994. Although he is not present physically amongst us, he lighted the sacred lamp of knowledge with divine beams in the city of Hathras. The dust of time would never fade it. He will always be present in our hearts as an ideal character and give us ideal instructions. We will never forget him. His pledge is remembered by me even today also -
‘मन्जिल मिले न मिले, इसकी आरजू नहीं,
मन्जिल की राह में, मेरा कारवां तो है।'
